Everyone in South Africa is becoming increasingly
concerned at the level of unlawful and inappropriate behaviour
that is taking place in our universities and other tertiary
institutions on a daily basis. This unacceptable behaviour
takes the form of criminal acts, dishonesty, racism, sexual
abuse, bullying, substance abuse, possession of firearms and
weapons, serious assault and tragically even murder!
STUDENTLINE provides all
stakeholders of tertiary institutions - whether students,
academic and other staff, parents or members of the community
- with the opportunity to report any unacceptable behaviour
anonymously and confidentially
without fear of victimisation.
The BE HEARD™ contact
centre operates 24-hours a day and 7 days a week and its multilingual
agents are able to accept calls in most of SA’s official
languages.
Reports can be sent to the
contact centre by:
- FreeCall number 080-STUDENT
(080-788-3368);
- by SMS to 082-678-7777;
- by e-mail to student@beheard.co.za;
- via a reporting template on the website
- www.beheard.co.za;
- by MaxiCall Fax to 0861-BEHEARD
(0861-234-3273); or
- via a Freepost address.
Once the BE HEARD™
contact centre has transcribed the report and sanitised it
to ensure that the identity of the person making the report
is not compromised, the report will be sent to a designated
person or persons at the specific institution by e-mail. All
telephone calls are digitally recorded and the key details
are captured on a database.
Should BE HEARD™ management
(in their sole discretion) decide that a report is urgent
and important they will take all reasonable steps to contact
at least one of the designated persons by telephone as soon
as possible.
Should the report concern the designated
person it will be reported to another person - perhaps the
chairman of council of the institution.
Once a tertiary educational institution
subscribes to BE HEARD™ it will be
sent an e-handbook providing tips and guidelines to ensure
that the institution derives maximum benefit from the STUDENTLINE
service.
BE HEARD™ has a comprehensive
menu of awareness and promotional materials from which each
institution can select the materials to promote the service
that best suits their requirements and the culture of their
institution.
The monthly subscription fee for the service
is R7 000 excluding VAT. There are no hidden
charges and this fee includes all the telephone costs. Please
note that PURCO members are entitled to a reduced monthly
subscription of R6 500 excluding VAT.
An institution is required to sign an agreement
for a minimum period of one year. Should
an agreement be signed for two or three years the monthly
subscription will remain unchanged for the duration of the
agreement. Should an agreement for one year be signed and
it is subsequently decided to continue, the monthly subscription
will increase by 7% for the second and following years.
Payment should be made by debit order on
the 1st day of the month in which the service
is rendered.
The management of BE HEARD™
has more than ten years experience of operating specialised
contact centres such as STUDENTLINE and can
be absolutely relied upon to manage all information with the
utmost discretion, confidentiality and professionalism.
